Winter Term Goals

January 31, 2018

Since leaving education I have been lacking a sense of structure within my life, the past few months have very much consisted of be doing what I want when I want and as relaxing as that is I am also finding myself craving routine. Just the other day I woke up and literally decided that I needed to write an essay, that apparently a blog post wouldn’t do and that it had to be an English Lang Lit A Level style essay (God knows why but that’s what I woke up thinking). Ever since I have been longing for routine, considering it is a new year I don’t think there’s any better time to fully resort my life and ensure I’m making the most of my days.

01) Firstly, I want to actually get into a work routine. I’m lucky enough to be able to have full use of my days due to getting up at 7:30 every morning everyday to do my au pair duties. I really want to start utilising my free time while the kids are at school and allocate days of the week where I focus on my writing and photos for the blog so that I’m not up at 10pm writing when I could have done it in the time I spent binging Modern Family. By the end of March, also known as Spring I want to have more of a routine set in place which I’ve managed to keep to.

02) I need to start saving money, my worst habit is the fact I go out for Starbucks about three or four times a week and then out for dinner at least once a week too. This makes such a dent in my bank account and I didn’t realise how much so until I was checking earlier. If I want to be able to have the summer I currently have planned then I need to save from now on.

03) Despite being a photography student and the fact I am going off to uni to study it in September I have hardly touched my camera since moving over. I want to ensure I am shooting more for myself and developing my style even further before I head off to uni, speaking of shooting I do have one really cool shoot lined up in the upcoming weeks which will be featured on my blog as and when it is finalised! (I also really want to begin to play around with analogue a lot more, though this is expensive and my film camera is back in england which is a bit of a dilemma so we will stick with digital for now)

04) One of my biggest downfalls is how hard I am on myself. For this reason I want to stop making myself feel bad for missing an upload date here and there or not being able to go out because I am feeling under the weather. I need to remind myself that I am human too.

So, that’s it.

These are my goals and a few things I hope to work on over the coming months and hopefully I can give you guys a little update on how I am doing with them as we fall into the ‘spring term’.

Music Monthly: January

January 29, 2018

January has been the best for new releases, so many of my favorite artists have dropped albums and singles and I have been living for it all. I will be for first to admit That my music taste is a bit all over the place and so Because of this the playlist for January is a mess but   it is full of banging tunes That made me happy all month long so here is January.

NEW RELEASES

Seeing local artists release new music is one of my favourite things and so when Matt Wills dropped this new track 'Come Back' I was all over it. Being from Kent too I love watching performers achieve their dreams and get out of the place that we have grown to love to hate. With this being said, the track itself is a massive middle finger up to the music industry and generally a step in the right direction for a new path in his career. He completely self produced and released this track himself, under his new record label ADX which is something that is so incredible. I really do suggest listening to Matt's music as it is some of my absolute favourites (other tracks of his worth checking out are Warn You, Emily and Chloe).

While crying to a friend about a boy (wow how relatable lol) she told me to listen to Advice by Kehlani and I fell in love with it. There's something so haunting about her voice and the line 'how is the man of my dreams not a man of his word' will always hurt me to listen to.

Soko is one of those artists that I only ever listen to select songs of and never really divulge myself into her discography (and no this isn't me about to say that I finally have done that) but when I was watching The End Of The F***ing World I heard her voice as the soundtrack for one of the scenes and had to google what the song was. Turns out it was called We Might Be Dead Tomorrow and turns out I didn't take it off repeat for about three days after discovering it.

Ryan Scott Graham has dropped his newest album with Speak Low If You Speak Love which is titled Nearsighted and man I adore this album. It holds so much development from the last album and has bops with sad lyrics which lead me to wonder whether I am supposed to dance around my room or just sit in the corner and cry (or maybe I could just cry while I dance). I love this album, if you want a few tracks from it to listen to then give Ever Yours, Contrasting Colours and Safety Net a listen.

As mentioned in my last post for music monthly I am a sucker for a good remix and so when I discovered the Ta-Ku x Wafia remix of Kanye' and Estelle's American Boy which they retitled American Girl I was hooked. It is so much more chill than the original and has been on in the background while I have been working on a heap of blog posts and other projects, in fact it's just come on shuffle now! If you're into chill tunes and remixes then give this a chance.

Nina Nesbitt has been one of those artists that I've loved since I was about twelve and growing up with her music and seeing her lyrics develop as she grew as a person too has been such a cool experience. Her latest track Somebody Special is called the happy song from her upcoming album and this is one that is so haunting and wonderful. Her sound is fully developed since her debut album Peroxide which was my soundtrack for months on end when it was released a few years ago. I really hope she drops some European dates so I am able to finally get to see her live!

I have also been obsessing over My Obsession by Pale Waves (no pun intended) as well as the rest of their releases. They have such a cool sound, I feel like its a fab mix between The Japanese House and Muna which are two other female fronted bands that I love a whole lot. This is the kind of music that I use to pump myself up for the week ahead of me on a Monday morning.

Troye Sivan also released new music this month and I am beyond excited to see the way that his album sounds after the past two singles. My favourite of the two is The Good Side which is the most beautiful and heart wrenching songs that I have heard in a long time. I'm a sucker for an acoustic guitar and pretty lyrics and Troye has delivered just this with the song, all of the lyrics felt as though they could have been something I ghost wrote (though of course his work outshines anything I can write). The lines 'I'm sure we'll meet in the spring and catch up on everything, I'll say I'm proud of all you've done' cut a little too deep in my Friday morning sleepy haze for me to admit.

Lastly (I did warn you that there had been a heap of new music that I had been listening to this past month) Tonight Alive dropped their album  Underworld and reminded me why they are one of my favourite bands. I have loved them for the longest time and got to see them live last April at Ally Pally and now I'm seeing them again in Amsterdam in March and after the release of this album I am so so excited.

OLDIES BUT GOLDIES

So you thought my ranting about music was over when I finished the new releases section? You couldn't have been more wrong, here's me now ranting about a heap of tunes that I hadn't discovered this month but have still made their way into my playlists this past month.

5 Seconds Of Summer are still out here proving to me that I'm really not as over my 'phase' of loving them as I thought I was, The Story Of Another Us came on the other day and I may or may not have shed a few tears. There is just something about this song that will probably always get to me, it is so heartbreaking (wow, can you tell that I have a thing for heartbreaking songs?) and I reminds me of the love I had for them and the joy I felt going to all their gigs when I was younger. Where are you 5SOS? Come back, I want to queue for hours and see you live again!

Recently I have been really feeling iffy about Ed Sheeran's music, there is something so overplayed about his latest album that really bugs me and so the fact that I decided to delve deeper into his old music again was a welcomed breath of fresh air. If you were to ever ask me about my favourite Ed songs I would always refer to his older tracks such as Cold Coffee, Be Like You and So which is why the newer stuff just annoys me. I miss old Ed with his guitar singing about heartbreak and life - the song that resurrected my love for him and restored my faith in why I loved him so much when I was younger was UNI. I remember being twelve and crying over this and not even having an ex lover to cry over and now being at the age where I have seen relationships end because of uni and distance and just hearing it in a completely new way.

If you read my This Months Reads post then you will know I read Here I Am. In this there were numerous references to Nirvana (one of my all time favourite bands to have ever existed) and so with these genius references to their song All Apologies and how the line 'aqua seafoam shame' made absolutely no sense, but that perhaps that is what Kurt wanted to do. To prove that nothing has to make sense, that you can just sometimes say things. Anyway, with all that being said and without giving it a full on English student style analysis I added it to my playlist and reminded myself how much I love Nirvana.

Another band I have revisited are The Internet which are super cool and that I love a lot, their album Ego Death is full of bops and never fails to leave me in a good mood. If you are into R&B/Soul/Electronia then for sure give them a listen because I cannot get over how insane their stuff is and have fallen in love with it all over again after years of forgetting how good they are. My favourite from the album is for sure Just Sayin/I Tried.

Finally, before you all get tired of me rambling about music I had to put Ultraviolet by the Stiff Dylans in another monthly playlist because it is just !! so !! good!!

If anyone ever has any music suggestions for me, or want any music suggestions, please do not hesitate to say me or I would like to know new music.

As always, here's this month's playlist.

Revision Tips for GCSE and A Levels

January 28, 2018

I don't mean to alarm anyone who is sitting exams this year but we are already at the end of January and you are going to start thinking about how to revise your time within the next few months. After a few polls on Twitter I found that a lot of you have several questions about exams and studying. I thought that I would put together a little blog post on the things that helped me when I was studying.

GENERAL TIPS

Flash Cards can be an ideal thing for some people, some subjects I used them for in the abundances while others I had hardly any for (for example, I spent a lot more time to make chemistry and biology flashcards than even making any French language I used a different technique). For me, I found that these were very time consuming so my biggest suggestion is that you put half an hour aside at the end of the school day or after classes to summarise what you learn. This means that you will continue to develop resources for when the stressful study leave period occurs and lets you study rather than procrastinating by making resources. I used to be different colored ones for different topics or things which really helped as I am visual learner in many senses.

Mind Maps are what I have found myself to be a lot more dependant on these than flashcards, I would put them up all over my room so that I could be constantly noticing them even when I was zoning out from my studies!

Post It Notes got me through my French GCSE, I would copy out phrases that I needed to memorize. Then I would basically put them up all over my room and in random places to get certain written phrases in my mind. I also copied out a version of my final drafts of my speaking and writing pieces and put them on the wall which was really fun to take them down one by one and look at how close I was to being done with the exams.

Scents and Different Rooms. Right, this is going to sound absolutely mental but hear me out on this one because my Grandma suggested it to me and I thought she was mad but it actually works.

Each topic can me studied in a different room (this is much easier for A Levels as there are less topics to study for) and when you are in the room associate it with a scent by either wearing a different perfume/body spray or burning a candle. By having the idea that you were in that room with that scent increases your chances of remembering it in the exams, especially if you are able to wear the scent into the exam. For example, I studied English in my bedroom while burning a vanilla candle and then on the day of my exam wore a vanilla body spray meaning the memories associated with it were then linked to me studying it. I'm not sure if I explained that in the most coherent way but give it a go - this was one of the most effective for me by far!

Study Days can also be great but you have to be sure that you and your friends won't distract each other, if you manage to work well and study well with others then go for this. I loved my A Level study days, my friends and I would all pile into someones house and we would make a massive breakfast or lunch and then get into working.

Have a heap of snacks and drinks and try to make it as enjoyable as possible while also ensuring that you complete everything you need to get done. To make sure that I didn't mess round too much I would write myself a to do list of things that I needed  to do in order to study. This also means you can share your revision resources with friends and so if someone has a really good mind map that you think you can learn from you will be able to photocopy it and have your own copy. Also if you missed anything in one of your classes then they may have the notes to help you out.

TIPS FOR STUDYING ENGLISH

Act the play out. When you're having a study day with friends take the time to each pick a character and read the play out in the kind of way you would when you are in class doing reading out loud. It is so much more enjoyable with friends than when you are in a class and I did this the day before my All My Sons exam for my English A Level and it really helped me to remember the key points and was so fun to do. The chances are you and your friends will be able to make it enjoyable in some way or another, my friends and I all put on silly voices and were super overdramatic while working on it meaning that everything we did was really remembered.  It was so fun that we even had friends who weren't studying English come over to act these plays out with us.

Know your context, for my exams context was one of the most vital things that you could throw into your analysis to get a few extra marks. Make a couple of mindmaps on the context and watch a few YouTube videos or read a few articles on the author of the piece and the time it was set in, you never know when they will come in handy to help you out in the exam.

TIPS FOR STUDYING SCIENCE

Revision guides were my best friend when it came to studying for science GCSE's and I managed to learn so much from them which was a dream. I also was lucky enough that my school uploaded pdf versions of all of the textbooks for science on the school database that was accessible from home meaning I was able to study in depth the topics that I needed. If you are on OCR for GCSE science then I really recommend these revision guides as they got me through the course and are pretty much the exact same as your textbooks but a revision version. They were my lifesavers.

 TIPS FOR STUDYING MATHS

Learn the vital equations, this will save you so much time within the exams as you don't become stumped when you are trying your hardest to get everything done and remain calm.

Method Maths is a good place to practice for any form of maths and I would like it to be my full advantage when I was studying for normal and further maths GCSE exams. If you have a school you can use it if this site is still used then I really recommend it for you guys!

I really do hope that this post was helpful in some way or another, if you guys have any other questions or if you want to be happy to try and help me. you all out. There will probably be a few other posts in the coming weeks so keep your eyes peeled for them too!

I Can't Deal With Endings

January 24, 2018

Endings surround us all the time, and they terrify me. You may find yourself asking why? And so here I am to explain.

I can’t deal with endings, the idea that something eventually has to finish is one that I so often push to the back of my mind in an attempts of finding peace. This is a problem, and a problem that is leaving me living in this strange nostalgic trance that I keep posting about on here.

If you know me, you know I tear through books like there is no tomorrow. You will also notice how when I get to the last sixty or so pages I begin to slow my pace (especially if it is a book that I have particularly enjoyed reading) because that way I am able to draw out time and give myself longer until I say goodbye to the story and the characters.

There is something so bittersweet about being so thrown into something and in turn being so immersed that the ending is a terrifying thought, however for me this fear doesn’t just exist within the pages of books. This something is what will always make me cling to a situation or a place or a person for as long as humanly possible instead of accepting the ending and leaving with grace and full composure.

Just yesterday afternoon I finished season six of Teen Wolf to find my immediate response to this ending being Googling when season seven comes out. It turns out there is most likely not going to be a season seven, much to my dismay. This was probably one of the strangest reminders of my fear of endings that I have experienced recently, this idea that I power through things and get so emotionally invested in such a small amount of time doesn't just link to Teen Wolf but most of my life.

I will most likely always be the one to kick up a fight and refuse to accept that things have finished. I’m the kind of person that will cry in airport terminals because the place I call home isn’t really my home anymore and I need to find a way to be okay with that. The kind of person that will constantly make excuses with people that I feel myself drifting from to be able to see them, attempting to be the band aid that holds us back together.

Recently though, I have realised how incredibly bad for me and my mental wellbeing this actually is. Things have to end, things have to come to a close, and I have to accept this fact. The phrase ‘nothing lasts forever’ used to be such a comfort for me but now it just fills me with dread, I find myself wondering why anyone ever even bothers with things if they aren’t going to last. I have such a strong obsession with permanence and leaving my mark (lets blame John Green and his portrayal of Augustus Walters for that one) that the fear I haven’t done enough before the ending scares me.

What if something ends and I haven’t done enough in the time that it has lasted, said everything that I needed to say about the topic, written all the words I possibly could? What do I do then? Because I know the world will keep turning and my life will continue but won’t I just end up feeling this overwhelming sense of failure due to knowing that I didn’t achieve things to my full potential?

Yet, endings happen for a reason. People leave you so that you are able to find new ones who may leave you too or may just end up staying for a lot longer than you could imagine, books end but you are able to pick up new ones and years end so that you are able to start a fresh. Okay, maybe that’s not actually why years end but it’s the reason I tell myself.

This year I am working on my fear of endings for entirely selfish reasons, considering everything that I have come to know for these past few months will draw to a close come the summer and I will be chucked into the deep end of university life (which in itself will end after three more years). Nothing is permanent and nothing will ever last forever. You can chose to be terrified of this, or you can chose to make this your reason to keep going. I am (trying to) make it my reason to keep going.

I don’t think that I will ever be one of those people that are fully able to live in the moment, I will always be terrified of forgetting some element of the life I am living and desperately try to capture it in the form of a photo or a metaphor in my journal. That is something I am okay with, something that I almost need to be able to do in order to be the kind of creative that I am. But I need to remind myself that we don’t know when things are going to end or when the last time with someone will be the last time.

For this reason and this reason alone, I need to appreciate the moments I am living in much more. I need to put my camera down for a second and stop the whirlwind of linguistic choices to describe the scene in front of me that whirls round my head all day long for a brief second and live. Perhaps, if I begin to live instead of clinging so tightly to moments that probably don’t even matter I will begin to get past this monumental fear that I hold towards things ending.

40 TV Shows To Binge

January 22, 2018

It's no secret that I have a talent for binging shows like they are going out of fashion, during blogmas I did a post where I compiled a heap of Netflix Originals to Binge (click here for that) however I thought I would branch out a little and share with you all a collection of both Netflix originals and other TV shows that I love to watch. This was inspired by binging Sophie Foster's Netflix shows to watch YouTube videos and somehow being lead to spend about two hours just watching random girls on the internet talking about the shows they liked or have been watching.

1) The Carrie Diaries

Before there was sex, before there was the city there was Carrie Fisher and her dreams of working in the big city. This is the spin off series from Sex and the City which was more aimed towards the teen audience in comparison to the more adult audience of the original show. Packed with a killer cast (AnnaSophia Robb and Austin Butler) and some hard hitting and relevant themes this show is honestly everything and I have binged it several times now, I'm just upset that it got cancelled to be honest.

2) Friends

If you haven't watched this at least once then you have probably been living under a rock for the past two decades. This show is a timeless classic and will always remind me of being a kid and curling up in bed with my mum on a Sunday morning and watching it with her. My personal favourite episode is the one where Ross dresses as a 'holiday armadillo'!

3) Skins (UK)

Despite the fact that I watched this when I was about 12 (and almost definitely shouldn't have due to a lot of the hard hitting themes affecting me when I was at a pretty impressionable age), this is the show that I will always love. Cassie and Sid, Effy and Freddie, Grace and Rich all manage to break my heart everytime I re-watch it.

4) Waterloo Road

This is British television at its best, honestly this show was a work of art and it annoys me that it doesn't get the recognition that it deserved. While there were some problematic storylines it really did deal with everything possible and there was never a dull day at Waterloo Road.

5) My Mad Fat Diary

Considering my step mum always goes on at me about how much 'American crap' I watch an awful lot of British TV. This is another throwback show, set in the 90's with an incredible series soundtrack because in reality 90's music is some of the best music. It is almost another form of skins but this time is based off a book by Rae Earl. You follow the protagonist Rae as she attempts to deal with her mental health after being discharged from hospital and finds her way in the world, strugging through friendships and relationships. This was such a refreshing show to watch.

6) How To Get Away With Murder

Honestly, I started watching this because I thought it would help me get away with discarding of my aint shit ex but shortly realised it wasn't going to do that, and then stuck with watching it due to the huge amounts of representation the show holds. This is quite a dark show with so many subplots and character backstories to immerse yourself into, it can get confusing at times but stick with it as everything is explained in the end.

7) The IT Crowd

Want a show like The Office that isn't the office? Here's my recommendation. This show follows the IT department of a company as they attempt to find their way through life, and yes they are fully grown men that are still finding their way through life.

8) Gossip Girl

I don't remember much about this anymore as it has been about three years since I binged it in the space of a month but I just remember completely throwing myself into the show and becoming so obsessed with it. I felt like I was one of the elite members of Blair Waldorf's clique and that I was experiencing it all with them. Gossip girl is filmed in the era of flip phones and alice bands - making me want to wear one everywhere but also having to remind myself they don't look anywhere near as good on me as they did on Blair.

9) Sherlock

I am the biggest Sherlock nerd to exist and even went to the cinema to see the finale of season four with a friend (which is probably one of the most extra things I have ever done). This programme is so bloody clever and I adore it, Benedict Cumberbatch portrays the role incredibly and if you are into crime dramas or psychological thrillers then this is one for you for sure.

10) Luther

Another crime drama, this is one I used as part of a case study within my AS Media exam and ended up falling in love with and watching way more than just the two episodes we were supposed to analyse. This show is awesome because you actually know who the killer is right from the beginning and then fall into this loop of trying to watch Luther work out who did it and why they did it. I recommend this so much.

11) How I Met Your Mother

Despite the kind of obvious ending I did fall in love with this show and became so invested in working out who the mother was. The cast are wonderful and each have such bold personality traits that you can't not fall in love with the show, Ted is a hopeless romantic who falls in love with anyone he passes in the streets and I can relate to that which is why I find it so funny. This is one of those shows you curl up and watch on a Sunday morning when you are fighting a hangover from the night before.

12) Suburgatory

This was one of those shows that I always turned to as a sense of comfort watching when I would have days off school because I was ill and daytime TV was somehow making me feel even worse. There was something so funny and stupid about it and it was such easy TV to watch that it was also one of those shows that I managed to have on in the background while I was doing other things to keep me somewhat entertained.

13) Fresh Meat

Jack Whitehall is the main reason I began to watch this on Netflix but I fell in love with the complex cast and hilarious storylines. This show follows a group of uni freshers (hence the name Fresh Meat) as they embark on their first years, they have all ended up in uni housing instead of halls and they are all probably more than likely to be classed as the odd ones out. There are four seasons which follow the 'gang' throughout their entire uni experience and I can promise you that by the end of the first season you will be so invested in how well they do that the next three seasons will rush by.

14) Gilmore Girls

When I worked at McDonalds a co-worker and I would be racing each other to see who could finish this first (safe to say I won) and gossip about what was happening on the show. If you can get past Rory being an entitled brat at numerous occasions throughout the show then you will probably love this show.

15) The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air

Who doesn't love Will Smith? This show is one of his greatest works due to how utterly stupid it is. It is another one of those shows that I remember curling up with my mum and watching when I was younger and so will always be a comfort show for me. The easy to follow plot and hiariously stupid storylines just make everything so good, not to mention the 80/90's fashion that is involved in this, we are talking balloon pants, and shoulder pads to name a few.

16) The 100

Based on a book this TV series is so bloody intense and has so many story arcs that it will leave you gripping to the edge of your seat and binging half a season in the space of a day (trust me, a friend and I have been there). Set in a dystopian future where the Earth has become uninhabitable due to a lack of clean oxygen the residents of the space ship called the Arc are suffering, their space is becoming just as uninhabitable as Earth became. The leaders make a decision to send a group of teens to 'the ground' and this show follows the teens lives as they attempt to live on the ground despite the vast amounts of curve balls that get thrown their way.

17) Broadchurch

I am a complete and utter sucker for a good crime drama and so when it came to finally watching Broadchurch I was not left disappointed. Despite the fact I was very cautious about David Tennant being in it due to me always being able to see him as The Doctor his acting skills completely blew me away and were on a complete other level with this show. It explores the death of a child which is initially cast off as a suicide but very quickly turned into a murder investigation, this show will have you throwing accusations about left right and centre.

18) Guilt

Murder and a crime drama? Yes please!
This show follows American college student who has moved to London as she becomes the key suspect within the murder case of one of her closest friends. It is probably one of the most gripping shows that I've watched in the past few months and I loved the layers of the characters and the plot twists that seemed to keep coming.

19) The Affair

I mentioned to a friend that I had watched this when she was asking for TV show suggestions and her response was 'of course you've watched that' and I think that explains how much my go to genre of TV show this is. It is laced with flashbacks and various layers of stories which build up to a bigger picture in the end. There are currently three seasons out and it has just been picked up for a fourth, I am so excited for it and definitely suggest more people get on the hype for this show!

20) Girl Boss

I don't really know quite what I was expecting from this show but it definitely gave me a lot more than I was looking for. This somewhat autobiographical TV series comes from the wondrous Netflix creators who are always churning out some amazing shows. I love anything with a female lead and watching how Nasty Gal rose to the such a well known brand is incredible to me, I got so into this and finished it in two days at the most.

21) The Confession Tapes

My love for crime meant that I basically devoured this show, it explores the ways in which people who are innocent are lead to confess for their 'crimes'. There are so many conspiracies throughout it all and it really leaves you wondering how the criminal justice system really is a justice system and whether half the people that get locked up for crimes actually committed them. This is the perfect show for you if you enjoyed the Amanda Knox documentary that netflix released.

22) The Vampire Diaries

If you love cute guys and anything supernatural then this one is surely for you. Based on the book series that came before it which was initially Elena (one of the protagonists) diary entries this show is full of drama, sex and scandal. If you can deal with having your heart wrenched out over the fact that your favourite character has died to then have to come to terms with the fact that your heartbreak was for no reason because they faked their death then this is for you. Just a pre-warning though: you will probably become incredibly emotionally invested within this show.

23) Keeping Up With The Kardashians

Right, hear me out here. I love watching overly privileged people live their lives and complain about stupid things, it somehow puts my issues into perspective and makes me laugh about how much these kinds of people take for granted. I mean, there's an episode where Kim loses a diamond earring in the ocean and she goes off in a strop for Kourtney to yell at her that 'there are people dying' which will always make me laugh. However, the show also deals with some hard hitting issues that the family face, for example Caitlyn Jenner's transition and the fact that Khloe was pretty much infertile. It holds reminders that celebrity families are just as real as normal families but is also hilarious too.

24) Community

Based in a community college a group of people come together to create the most unlikely study group known to man to ensure that they pass their education. I love Donald Glover so much and community is where my love for him comes from due to how insanely funny his character is. You have so many good moments in this show and I think I've binged it entirely about three times now, it was one of those shows that never gets old and somehow managed to get funnier every time you watch it.

25) The Tomorrow People (US)

If you love anything kind of supernatural or sci-fi then this is one for you, it follows a group of people who have developed superpowers including telekinesis and teleportation as they are being hunted down by a group of bad guys. There was unfortunately only one season of this, but it is so worth giving a watch.

26) Cuckoo

This is one of the best and worst shows to have ever existed on British TV due to how obscenely stupid it was and providing yet another example of British TV at its finest. It's based around a family where the daughter has been off travelling and returns from Thailand with a husband much to the rest of her family's shock (and he even starts a baked potato business out the back of his van). The show is nuts and yet so easy to binge and just makes me laugh a lot when I need some form of feel good show.

27) Bad Education

My Jack Whitehall loving heart loves this show, he is probably one of my favourite comedians (besides Trevor Noah) and the fact he managed to write and star in a TV series is something that is hugely cool. I love this show and every now and then when I can't sleep I will just put it on and have a good laugh.

28) The Office (UK)

I've only ever watched the British version so I cannot give you any opinion on whether The Office US or UK are better but I can tell you that I love this version. Growing up watching comedy shows like this with my step dad lead me to have a strange love for this kind of show and it's honestly so funny. I'm pretty sure both versions of it follow the same kind of premise and plot line meaning you probably only need to watch one or the other however I am almost defnietly going to end up binging the US version soon too!

29) In The Flesh

Want a show about the world post zombie apocalypse? I've got just the one for you, set after 'The Rising' which is what the show has created as their take on the idea of a zombie apocalypse. This supernatural drama explores the way that the reactions from the residents of the village that the rehabilitated undead return to in the attempts of creating a life for themselves again. It's a wonderful show and Keaton Henson did a lot of work on the soundtrack for it which just makes it even better in my opinion.

30) Doctor Foster

She thinks that her husband is having an affair and so she begins to investigate, she becomes completely emotionally invested in it and ends up going a little insane. Doctor Foster is one the the best things to come out of the BBC in years and I adore it.

31) Teen Wolf

I don't think I've ever torn through a TV series as fast as I tore through this, I love Dylan O'Brien and I also love Tyler Posey so this show is a winner for me to be honest. If you love anything supernatural then this is one for you, you get werewolves, you get dread doctors, you get banshees and many more supernatural beings. I love it and the storylines - though prepare to become completely emotionally invested and have your heart ripped out as a result at several times.

32) Riverdale

This is probably one of the most problematic and trashy shows on Netflix and yet I still can't get enough of it? Someone please explain to me how that works because I am failing to understand. It started off good, don't get me wrong but the second season seems as though everyone is on crack yet nevertheless it is still a very binge worthy show and gets your heart racing at some points. It's kind of like Pretty Little Liars in the sense that none of this stuff makes sense but the producers still decide that it will make quality TV.

33) A Series Of Unfortunate Events

It's coming back for a second season in March and if that isn't a good enough reason to begin to binge all of season one again then I don't know what is. This is based off the books by Lemony Snicket and while it has some very dark themes it is generally just such a good watch. This is another show with Neil Patrick Harris in (sometimes I did find it hard to take Count Olaf seriously considering he was Barney in How I Met Your Mother and the characters are so different) and it also has cameos from Cobie Smulders which I hope lead to her having a full character in the new series!

34) Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

A total feel good pile of 'American crud' as my parents would chose describe it. So easy to binge and just makes you laugh and wonder how anyone could be as naive as the protagonist is, also the theme tune will 100% end up being stuck in your head for a good week after you watch it!

35) American Vandal

I spent about three episodes trying to work out whether this show was a work of fiction or actually based off of something realistic but it is in fact fiction, and a complete spoof of the kind of crime documentaries that are already on Netflix. This show is hilarious but sometimes a bit tedious and can be binged in the space of a day pretty easily.

36) The End of the F***ing World

While it admittedly wasn't as good as everyone seemed to make it out to be (I'm looking at you, Nathan Zed) it was a very easy to binge show that did leave me questioning my beliefs and what I stood for. Each episode was about 20 minutes and there were only eight episodes so you can go ahead and do the math of how easy that was to binge for me, the queen of hiding away and binging shows. Also, a quick shoutout goes to whoever curated the shows soundtrack because man that was a highlight in my opinion!

37) Ja'mie: Private School Girl

Does anyone else remember how crazily ridiculous this show was? It's an Australian comedy series written by Chris Lilley (who also stars as Ja'mie) who is the most extra, demanding and annoying (but hilarious) character you will ever come across. The show follows Ja'mie through her final weeks at high school and explores a lot of stupid themes in the form of a mockumentary. If you haven't watched this before then this is for sure a must!

38) Parks and Recreation

Parks and Rec is another mockumentary style show, this one is seven seasons long in comparison to the singular season we were given of Ja'mie and focuses on Leslie Knope and her life. This show is absolutely hilarious and I still have all the episodes on record back at home in England so I can curl up and watch them on sick days.

39) Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I'm a complete lowkey Marvel geek (to the point I went to the midnight screening of Guardians of the Galaxy 2) and so when this show started to get aired on British TV I was so excited. A friend and I had been watching it online for a couple of weeks and to be able to actually watch it on a decent screen in decent quality was a blessing to say the least. I love this show as it is so full of complex characters as well as superheroes and has cameos and references to so many incredible members of the Marvel cinematic universe. If you are into anything Marvel then give this a go, and even if you aren't then give this a go as it is awesome.

40) Glee

Whenever I am singing along to an old song in the car with my dad and he asks me how I know it my answer is this TV show. It follows the Glee club of a high school as they battle the heirarchey of teenagerhood as well as trying to follow their beliefs and do what they enjoy. Though incredibly problematic at times this show does have huge amounts of representation for so many minorities and paints every character to be so strong and set in their beliefs. If you want some banging glee club covers of incredible songs and to be able to find some new tunes that you might just love then this is the show for you.
